The Couple
Jacob and Kathryn met at Liberty University in the Symphony in 2015. They dated for a bit, and then broke up. The timing just wasn’t right. 5 years later, Jacob and Kathryn reconnected via Facebook (a platform, Jacob stated he would never get on). This is when they began reconnecting. Realizing that each of them had changed because of God’s grace, they met up for coffee in June of 2020. After 6 hours of talking about Jesus and all that He had done and everything He was doing they realized they were meant to be. They have been patiently waiting the results of the BAR exam Jacob took a few months ago. It came in the day before their wedding that he passed!!
The Wedding
Getting married at Calvary Baptist Church and holding the reception there as well was very important to Kathryn and Jacob. After getting ready, Kathryn chose to have a “daddy first look” with her sisters and mom watching. It was a sweet moment. She then had a first look with Jacob. His expression says it all. She started walking toward him when he asked her to stop so he could just take in her beauty. She was not wearing a veil, but instead opted for a cape, which I completely loved! He presented her with a book of messages he wants to write to her everyday. The first entry was on their wedding day. He wrote it as he was getting ready. Everyone was in great spirits and they were lifted even higher when Kathryn’s grandmother came in! They weren’t sure if they would be able to get her out of the nursing home. Her grandmother cried because she hasn’t seen them in over a year due to COVID. It really shows this virus goes further than just making people sick. Such a sweet reunion with her family, they posed for pics, then got ready to officially get married in the sanctuary. A lovely service sealed with a kiss…. they were now Mrs. and Mr. Gordon. A short reception with speeches and cake cutting followed by a bubble exit! What an amazing day!
