The Couple
Christian and Erica met online through Bumble! They dated for about a month before he flew her down to Florida for Spring Training. Christian at the time was in Sarasota, FL at spring training with the Baltimore Orioles. After an eventful 2-3 years of traveling, Christian wrapped up his career, and they moved in together in Northern Virginia. They both really wanted to add a four legged furry friend to their family, while also discussing marriage to make their family more permanent. Christmas of 2020, Christian surprised Erica with a golden boy, Franklin, who helped Christian propose. After the initial excitement Erica was able to read his name tag that read “Will You Marry Me”? It was perfect in every way! To see their engagement session click HERE!
The Wedding
The couple booked the paradise ballroom at Herrington on the Bay. The ceremony was on the lawn in front of a wooden archway with beautiful flowers and surroundings as the sunset in the backdrop. The reception was a short walk away under a white tent with fairy lights with a beautiful view of the Chesapeake bay. Erica chose dusty blue with an accented sage/eucalyptus green for her wedding colors. Daisy Dahlia Events did an amazing job with the greenery around the venue and reception.
When our photography team showed up and started details, it was thundering and lightening just over the bay. It was dark and gloomy, but no rain! It cleared out as the day went on. When I met with Christian and Erica they were both nervous for the first look. I knew once they saw each other, the nervousness would melt away and they would embrace each other. I always pay attention to the small details. Erica and Christian wanted to exchange vows written for each other privately prior to their ceremony and the “official vows”. Erica was emotional and Christian gently encouraged her by hold her shoulder, then her hand. It was a very sweet moment and gives a glimpse into their relationship and how nurturing it is.
At the ceremony, when Erica’s mom saw her walking down the aisle then looked back and Christian, she couldn’t contain her emotion anymore. You could feel how happy everyone was for them! Once the ceremony was over we decided to go to the pier for some sunset pics. As we were walking we noticed….no less than… 15 sharks in the water!!! They were hard to get pictures of because they came to the surface quickly, but I got one fin, glistening in the sunlight. A first I have seen on the Chesapeake Bay!
Entering into the reception, both Christian and Erica took off their formal shoes and got ready to party! During Christian’s first dance with his mom, she also became emotional looking over at Erica as she dance with her son. These mom’s surely do love their children beyond words! As the party got started, bridesmaid of the year, Kayla, sang “I Want to Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston (and she rocked it!) then danced while balancing a cup on her head!!
The evening ended with a perfect sparkler exit!
We are so thankful to be a part of these moments with our clients! Congrats Christian, Erica (and Franklin!). Enjoy your honeymoon!
xoxo,
