Sarah & Donny Married! | Annapolis Maryland
I am going to do my best to keep this short and sweet because I could go on all day about my admiration of Sarah and Donny! I think you will find that these images tell the story of love, laughter and the true start to the rest of their fairytale. There were so many thoughtful details put into this wedding from the dress, the something borrowed, the gifts exchanged with the couple and their parents etc. In fact, the “theme” to their wedding is about adventure. Sarah’s grandmother used to say “and so the adventure begins”. This is a saying that Sarah carries with her and uses daily! There was adventures from the start of the day. Sarah’s mom went to the venue and took the keys to Sarah and her dad’s ride. So we put them in the jeep (it is white so that’s fitting right??) and made sure they made it on time! We took Donny and Sarah in the Jeep after the bubble send off as well to get their pictures taken then finally to GiGi’s house (you will read more about her later) for a picture in the front yard.
Sarah and Donny had fate to thank for their connection. Even though they are both from Maryland, they actually met in… Arkansas over 10 years ago. Through life and adventure, they began dating and now are living back in Maryland where they are going to build their life together! They decided to keep their wedding small. They had 2 of Donny’s children stand by their side while exchanging vows, but chose to not have any bridesmaids or groomsmen. They feel that each and every person who came to the reception after the ceremony played such an intricate role in who they are today and the support system they have. I had the pleasure of interacting with all of the important people in their lives and can say with certainty that they are surrounded by some incredibly amazing people.
The ceremony itself had less than 20 people. Their friend, Ryan, (who is hysterical btw) officiated the service. As Donny and Sarah exchanged vows there wasn’t a dry eye in the place (me included!). It was just one of the many moments throughout the day that really solidified their love for each other. The reception had about 80 of their family and friends and was brunch style with mouth watering food, a photo booth and song playlist created by the groom. The light flooded into the room from the huge windows that open to the Chesapeake Bay. Just as I expected from Sarah (because she and I are so much alike), there were touches of rose gold, purple and gorgeous flowers around the room. One of my favorite parts of Sarah’s dress is that it was a full ballgown or “princess dress”. She lit up when she would twirl in it. The dress picked her (as she would say!). She wore rose gold earrings given to her by her parents at the bridal brunch just a few weeks ago.
Simple, classy, timeless. This wedding was fun capture and means so much to Bob and I. Even though we didn’t know Sarah and Donny prior to their wedding planning journey, we got to know them so well and naturally became friends with them. We went to a concert, have had a few dinner dates, they have met our twins and I see more in our future together. We are ecstatic that we could be there for them on this day and hopefully for years to come.
The above left image is one of my very favorites!!! As Sarah was walking down the aisle Donny’s grandmother reached out and touched her left arm.
This memory tree is so creative and beautiful! Sarah had a large vase with branches holding images of those loved ones who had gone to heaven. It was incredibly touching!
Sarah LOVES rose gold. Donny picked out the perfect wedding set for her!
I can’t even express enough how much we love Michael Designs Florist. I recommended them to Sarah after they made the arrangements for another Annapolis Wedding we captured last year.
I feel like this is a good way to show how delicious the cake by Sweet Hearts Patisserie was!
Bob and I decided to do a “same day slideshow”. This was the first time we have attempted this. While everyone was eating, I selected about 25 images and edited them on my #iPadPro to show Sarah, Donny and their parents. It was so worth this reaction!
The Chart House in Annapolis is a gorgeous venue with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Chesapeake Bay!
This is Antoinette! She wanted to smell Sarah’s flowers and say hello while we were taking just married pics! Sarah (just like Bob and I) is a huge dog lover!
Yes, that is me in the photo both with Sarah lol! I think the sign ” I stole her heart” is pretty accurate…She did, after all, choose me to capture her wedding day!
Sarah’s dad, Rob, gave an incredibly heartfelt speech.
I don’t believe they are huge Star Wars Fans, but I have to do it anyway….May the 4th be With You ;0)
Gigi, Donny’s grandmother (above left image) is 98 years old!!! She is sassy, funny and can party!
