The Couple

Devon’s maid of honor, Trish, says it best: when Devon laid her eyes on Ihab, she knew that he was “the one”. When Ihab proposed, he took Devon to Fogo De Chao (Washington, DC). They strolled down to the reflecting pool, which is not abnormal for them. Before she knew it, Ihab was down on one knee asking Devon to marry him and a crowd of people cheering around them! After their reservation, Ihab planned for friends and family to be there to celebrate!

The Wedding

Devon and I became official in June 2019. We video chatted and hit it off right away. I feel that it is very important to be the “best fit” for the couple to ensure I can capture everything they envision for their day. A few months later, I learned that they were expecting, their first child, Lucas! I got to meet the trio at their family engagement session.Â Unforeseen circumstances, COVID-19, caused the engagement session to be delayed. Devon and I texted a lot through the shutdown and as the wedding day approached, another disaster tried to steal Devon’s day- the remnants of hurricane Laura. We watched the weather hour by hour. Bob and I pulled up to the venue in pouring down rain. We had a plan in place. Suddenly, just before the first look, the sun began shining through and it remained sunny for the rest of the day. They already moved the ceremony indoors, which worked out because we had the freedom to use the garden (where the original ceremony site was) without any chairs set up! It was divine.

Ihab is Egyptian. Watching the two cultures coming together was so beautiful. The reception was full of love and joy. William, Devon’s brother, was learning cultural dances and trying to teach a few too. The wedding, despite all of the obstacles and odds against them, went off without a hitch, on the original planned date and ended with a fabulous sparkler exit!
