The Couple
Their Story From Joanna’s Perspective:
Tim and I have known each other since high school but are far from high school sweethearts. We met at a wedding when we were 14 & 15 but didn’t connect again until our mid twenties. Tim is an Annapolis native that attended the Naval Academy while I spent my formative years in North Carolina and Florida. We dated long distance for 4 years before Tim popped the question in January of 2021. He is an Osprey Pilot in the US Marine Corps so naturally he planned the engagement around a flight. He flew me from San Diego (where we currently live) to Catalina Island where we hiked to a remote beach before he got down on one knee.
The Wedding
The day started very low key. Joanna and her bridesmaids getting ready at an air b&b on the water. There was a scheduled “daddy/daughter first look”, but dad couldn’t wait to see her. It was a sweet moment because of his excitement. When Joanna got into her dress, the junior bridesmaids stared at her beauty! The veil was cathedral length taking up most of the living room as they secured it (so we could toss it later and make it flow!). The bridesmaids wore dusty pink dresses of different textures. The guys wore navy blue suits with navy ties. Very classic and regal.
The ceremony was at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Annapolis is GORGEOUS! Tim and Joanna opted for a traditional ceremony followed by a reception at Atreeum At Soaring Timbers. Their families know each other very well. Joanna has 7 siblings (6 sisters and 1 brother) and Tim has 6 brothers (no girls in this family!). In fact, Joanna’s older sister is married to Tim’s older brother. During Joanna’s dad’s speech, he let the Kerner family know that he was “out of daughters”. Joanna was the last to be married. It was a very endearing moment. They finished the celebration dancing the night away!
